St. Paul United Methodist Church in Largo, FL is seeking a passionate, authentic worship leader who will use their God-given gifts to lead a congregation close enough to touch the regal robe of Christ through worship. Having a heart to use music and arts to create a worshipful experience is at the center of those gifts. St Paul UMC is an intergenerational church striving to Glorify God, Grow in Faith, and Give in Love.
This part-time position shall not exceed 25 hours a week with the work week structured as follows: Weekly Sunday worship 7:30a-Noon. Sunday includes team prayer, a final coordination meeting and band run-through that morning previous to worship beginning. Weekly rehearsal (currently Thursday evenings) includes working on upcoming music for that week along with introduction of new music for future worship. Weekly worship planning with the Worship Arts Team to generate ideas using creative approaches to thematic planning. We strive to plan worship elements 4-6 weeks ahead. Seasonal worship experiences including support of Lenten/Easter and Advent/Christmas. Ongoing training, recruiting and contacting vocalists and musicians to create team depth. Planning time for song selection and rehearsal. (can be done off-site)
Ideal candidate has a heart for Christ and the church, and a desire to lead people to the feet of Jesus. Candidate must be relational, energetic, humble, team player, organized, self-motivated and creative. Proficient playing guitar or keyboard along with musical knowledge and ability to direct other musicians.
