Apply for This Job Youth Ministry Director Crossroads United Methodist Church Washington, IL Posted: January 31, 2016     Job Information: Crossroads is a United Methodist, evangelical church in a suburban community. We are a regional church that serves our local community and several surrounding areas. Several years ago the congregation moved from their downtown location to construct a new building to serve the needs of a growing community. They followed the call of God; risking their personal comfort for the sake of the Kingdom. We are committed to a philosophy of ministry that revolves around worship, discipleship, and evangelism. We are looking for a Youth Director who desires to have an impact for Jesus Christ on students' lives across our region. Our area of contact includes six school districts and many homeschool students, resulting in hundreds of students to reach with the gospel and lead in discipleship. Our current youth ministry program consists of 30-40 students in the 6th-12th grades with 10-15 volunteer leaders. This is a full time ministry position to start immediately. QUALITIES: o Has a heart for God and a Christ-like character of love that aligns with Scripture. o Knows salvation in Jesus Christ and has a growing, personal relationship with Him. o Possesses a deep knowledge and understanding of Scripture. o Possesses the ability to effectively communicate Scripture and its application in real world conversations. o If married, has a healthy, faithful marriage and family life. o If single, has an honorable approach to dating that provides a good example to students. o Is a self-starter who actively seeks out healthy ways to have an excellent, energetic program. o Is highly relational and communicates well with students, parents, volunteers, the church body, and staff. o Possesses organizational, word processing, social media skills, and management skills. o Is skilled in teaching and communicating with adults and students and has confidence in public speaking. o Is a team player and can develop both youth and adult leadership. o Has a sense of humor, energetic, and initiates fun. o Willing to learn and receive guidance from pastoral staff. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in a biblical field from an accredited institution. Evidence of education or training in Youth Ministry. REQUIREMENTS: o Provide vision and direction to the Youth Ministry Program in alignment with the current vision and culture of the church. o Plan, organize, and lead an energetic, enticing, weekly youth group program for middle school and high school students. o Plan, organize, and lead retreats and trips that take students off site for spiritual development or service. o Provide opportunities throughout the year for students to serve the church and the community. o Develop and host exciting outreach activities for students to invite friends. o Organize and teach confirmation each year. (With supervision from pastoral staff.) o Make contact with students with a presence at school and local para-church ministries. o Assist students as they prepare for life after high school, and assimilate in the life of the church as adult members. o Oversee the Youth Sunday School program in both theological content and its presentation, teaching where appropriate. o Recruit, train and encourage volunteer staff, encouraging a volunteer-driven ministry. o Lead efforts to implement and maintain the youth ministry's use of Social Media, providing regular communication of youth events/activities. Engage students using social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Periscope, etc. o Set and administrate the youth ministry budget. o Communicate regularly with office staff regarding activities and participant information. o Provide occasional connection points or meetings for parents to help encourage communication. o Meet weekly with pastoral and office staff to discuss the greater ministry/vision of the church.
