Apply for This Job Graphics Specialist Floris United Methodist Church Herndon, VA Posted: August 19, 2015     Job Information: The primary purpose of this position is to produce unique graphic designs for church communications, establishing themes and overall look for all programmatic and external communications. Supports the Programmatic Staff, Senior Pastor, Executive Director, Associate Pastors, and the Directors of programmatic operations. Responsible for graphic design relating to, but not limited to, print media e.g. quarterly magazine, brochures and posters, electronic media e.g. the website and e-communications and any external publicity such as signs and newspaper campaigns. Duties Following the guidance of the Director of Communications, advances church communications consistent with Floris brand and compatible across all ministry areas. Particular focus and attention is given to worship ministry support, including but not limited to, serving as a member of the creative worship team responsible for the graphic support for creative elements, designing and implementing sermon series graphics including the bulletin cover, slides, related website graphics and external publicity when applicable. Other areas of focus include the look and feel of all graphics used in all forms of communications, print or electronic. This includes ensuring a cohesive look and feel across the Floris website and all e-communications; providing graphic and design support to the ministry leaders, creation of brochures, posters, mailers and post cards, name tags, t-shirts and giveaways etc. Attends all necessary meetings as directed by the Director of Communications and the Executive Director to ensure that when dealing with internal affairs and making day to day decisions that they are in line with the Senior Pastor's overall vision and direction of the Communications Ministries. Provides general technical/office (team) support as required. Performs other tasks as required. Qualifications BA or BFA in Art or Graphic Design 2 years experience in graphic design with demonstrated knowledge in design elements, such as color and composition, artistic ability and creativity. Knowledge of graphic art production from a stand point of visual communication and technical production. Formal design and production training, digital editing, color correction, illustration, graphic design and print communications. Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop CS5+, Adobe Illustrator CS5+, Adobe InDesign CS5+, Mac OS X, preparing print ready art. Experience in designing for web using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Basic knowledge Content Management Systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Powerpoint). Writing for print and for web is preferred. Strong portfolio that showcases quality print and digital work. Preferred, but not required: photography skills, writing skills, video capturing and editing skills. Familiarity with office support equipment (copiers, duplicators, bookmakers, folding machines, etc.) and ability to quickly adapt to new equipment. Ability to work in a team environment. Skill in interpersonal relationships in a variety of settings. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Diversified skills in small office environment.
