Elizabethtown, PA

Job Information:
Lead Pastor
Koinos Church

Koinos, an eleven year-old congregation that recently moved into its own facility in the western suburbs of Reading, PA is actively seeking a Lead Pastor due to the relocation of their founding pastor.

Koinos is part of the Anabaptist tradition, yet has a strong contemporary feel. Sunday worship is casual, with the generous use of contemporary music, pop-culture elements, and traditional spiritual practices. The church has a strong focus on the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth, is historically orthodox, but socially progressive.

While more than 300 people call Koinos their home, many members were not previously an active part of a church or considered themselves people of faith. Others come from a disenfranchised faith experience. The congregation is primarily made up of younger professionals and hosts a thriving children's ministry.

Koinos has a passion to connect with people outside of faith, sometimes in unorthodox and creative forms. The people of Koinos are a very active community with over 85% of regular attendees volunteering. It has gained a reputation for its on-going partnerships with social justice organizations within its local community and the city of Reading (one of the poorest in the United States.)

The primary roles of our new Lead Pastor will be:
Effective Communicator – the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, teaching, and overseeing Sunday worship gatherings that faithfully communicate the way of Jesus in a real and culturally relevant manner to spiritually seeking adults.
Vision and Executive Leadership – the Lead Pastor will cast and communicate a clear vision; they will guide Koinos through important stages of organizational development and strategic planning. This role will provide an opportunity to move the congregation into and through their next stage of growth.
Team Development – the Lead Pastor will be responsible for leading, managing and developing the staff, as well as those in key supporting roles. Their commitment to coaching and mentoring will be essential in modeling the way forward for Koinos.

The successful candidate will have significant professional ministry experience and a history of successfully growing ministries through outreach. A relevant master's degree is preferred. The ability to become licensed by the Brethren in Christ denomination is essential.

Please submit a cover letter with resume to Bishop Bryan Hoke at the following email address: office@atlanticbic.org. Deadline for submission of resumes is August 21st, 2015.
