We believe that worship, service, children-youth and family ministry, and small groups are all important, but it all begins with the ministry of hospitality. We may do great work for the sake of the gospel, but if people can't get past their first impression of our church family, then they will never have a chance to find out about the great work we do. Primary objective: Help the people of Hope to feel empowered as individuals who not only work to seek and make Disciples of Christ but to "BE" Disciples of Christ through a lifestyle of service to others. Specific responsibilities: -Build relationships between key service organizations that go beyond the giving of material goods and money. -Follow the passions of the people of Hope in order to develop long-term service connections with an organization or organizations that are meeting needs in our community and world. -Pursue grant writing as a means of funding a long-term service connection. -Provide opportunities for not only service experiences but also education in the realms of social justice. -Be a resource for service opportunities for all the people of Hope from youth and families (in coordination with the new Minister of Children, Youth and Family) to adults of all ages. -Oversee service event marketing, logistics planning and coordination. -Be a liaison with the Outreach Gift Committee in order to facilitate follow-through in making connections between the organizations and individuals applying for grants and the people of Hope. -Be a service liaison between the Hope staff, Strategic Planning Council and Service Team. -Time Commitment: 6 to 8 hours per week. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience Requirements): -Two or more years of experience (volunteer and/or paid) in social services delivery or coordination required. Competencies: -Demonstrated working knowledge of supportive services and other resources in the area served in their prior project / position. -Demonstrated ability to advocate, organize, problem-solve and provide results for the organization they served.
