Apply for This Job Family Pastor Church of the Redeemer UM Columbus, OH Posted: January 22, 2015     Job Information: Principle Focus The Family Pastor at Church of the Redeemer United Methodist will focus primarily on ministry to children, youth, and their families. Regular Duties The Family Pastor will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Children a. Be a caring mentor for the children of our congregation. b. Coordinate our Sunday morning KidsZone ministry. c. Help the Nursery supervisor in operating and staffing our nursery ministry on Sunday mornings. d. Coordinate at least four fun activities yearly for the children of our congregation and community. (Examples are Trunk-or- Treat, Jesus' Birthday Party, etc.) e. Provide the children's message at both worship services each week. f. Coordinate our yearly Vacation Bible School. g. Supervise our children's Sunday School program. 2. Youth a. Be a caring mentor and friend for the youth of our congregation. b. Regularly communicate with the youth of our congregation through various means including social media and social interactions. c. Coordinate regular youth group meetings. d. Engage the youth in multiple missional activities throughout the year. (Examples: Whitehall Community Dinners, HEART Food Pantry, etc.) e. Supervise our youth Sunday School program. 3. Families a. Be a point of contact for the parents of children and youth here at Church of the Redeemer. b. Be proactive in meeting and greeting visiting and guest children and youth on Sunday mornings and at community activities. c. Work with the Pastor in creating activities and ministries for the parents of children and youth. d. Regularly attend meetings of the Children and Families Committee. Occasional Duties The Family Pastor will occasionally perform the following duties: 1. Lead Sunday morning worship, including delivering the sermon. 2. Attend meetings of the Church Council and other committees of the church as directed by the Pastor. Skills/Requirements A successful candidate for the position of Family Pastor should have... 1. ... a growing faith in Jesus Christ. 2. ... the ability to share his/her own faith with others. 3. ... an interest in working primarily with children and youth. 4. ... a working knowledge of modern technology and social media. 5. ... good communication and organizational skills. 6. ... reliable transportation. Expectation It is expected that the Family Pastor will become a part of our church family. To this end, the Family Pastor will be expected to attend Sunday morning worship at Church of the Redeemer each week. The Family Pastor is also expected to follow and enforce Church of the Redeemer United Methodist's Safe Sanctuary Policy. Supervision The Family Pastor will be supervised by the Pastor and responsible to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. The Family Pastor will meet weekly with the Pastor for ministry reflection and planning. Work Schedule and Compensation The Family Pastor will work 15-20 hours per week in our ministry and will receive a salary of $833.33 per month ($10,000 per year). Pre-employment Screening Prior to employment, the selected candidate for this position will be subject to a criminal background check and a possible drug screen.
