Apply for This Job Minister of Music Marvin AME Zion Church Waxhaw, NC Posted: January 20, 2015     Job Information: General Description: The Minister of Music is responsible for the music life of the church and all choirs, and should be able to plan and administer the music program for the church, in consultation with the Senior Pastor. Requirements: Five or more years of experience directing multiple choirs. Demonstrate proficiency in keyboard performances with organ and piano and must be able to read music and able to teach parts. Must demonstrate leadership skills with a collegial approach to work with others, including choir members, musicians and staff Specific Duties/Responsibilities: Lead choir and congregation in all music in worship. Be available to serve as organist at weddings, funerals and other special services. Arrange for substitute in the event of absence. To plan and prepare for regular practices and rehearsals of all choirs. Required to be flexible and be prepared to travel with Pastor and choir(s) to other services such as revivals, funerals, weddings, etc. Select repertoire for all choirs and praise teams and the selection of instrumental music for worship services and other church services such as funerals, revival, and other special church events Monitor the condition and conduct routine maintenance of the church's musical instruments and make recommendations to Personnel Committee and Board of Trustees regarding their up-keep.
