YOUTH PASTOR Qualifications Must be a credentialed minister in good standing Must have his family in godly order Purpose The Youth Pastor acts as the leader and adviser of young people in the church, discipling and motivating them as they mature emotionally and spiritually. The Youth Pastor's primary function is to be a facilitator of a fellowship in which both social and spiritual needs can be met as young people commit themselves, not only to God, but to one another in Christ. Responsibilities Oversees the spiritual life and Christian training of all youth, of youth gifted with leadership qualities, preparing them for ministry in the group and beyond. Directs and conducts weekly youth meetings and services, developing a youth group in which there is spontaneous, creative, deliberate, and sincere worship of God. Recruits and trains youth as leaders in youth and church activities. Organizes or involves youth in special events for study and challenge, including drama and musical presentations in the church as well as community. Organizes or involves youth in special occasions for celebration of enjoyment, bringing the youth together into a loving, caring, accepting, and trusting community by the power of the Holy Spirit. Coordinates and/or directs all activities related to youth, creating opportunities for fellowship. Plans and directs strong, diversified, evangelism ministry, motivating youth toward a deep concern for non-Christians and engaging them in events where there is opportunity to share Christ. Emphasizes missions through special mission projects, Speed-the-Light fund raising, etc.etc. Is responsible for visitation and follow up of all youth prospects and absentees. Performs other duties assigned by the Pastor. Develops volunteer workers program to assist with office, grounds and church work as needed. Oversees maintenance of all church facilities, vehicles and grounds. Relationships The Youth Pastor is directly accountable to the Senior Pastor in all matters relating to performance of the Youth Pastor's work. The Youth Pastor will cooperate and work as a "team" member with other staff. He will seek to compliment and build other staff ministries, accepting differences, praising strengths and appreciating overlapping skills.
