Together we will nurture, be nurtured, and bring help and hope to the world. -Grace Presbyterian Statement of Purpose Basic Purpose: To help create, lead, administer and direct a vibrant ministry for children, youth and families in coordination with other staff and volunteers in a new congregation that is 2 years old. To that end, the Director of Youth and Family Ministry serves in creative collaboration with the Pastor, the Spiritual Development Committee, and other ministry teams in developing and maintaining programs and activities that encourage faith nurturing relationships among children, youth, and family, as well as intergenerationally among the people of this congregation. It is expected that the incumbent will be an active participant in the full life of the church and not relegated to a specific area of ministry. Reports To: The Director of Youth and Family Ministry is supervised by the Pastor. He/she will be required to work closely with the Spiritual Development Committee in a collaborative and mutually accountable manner, as well as with other volunteers and members of the church and community. Responsibilities: -Be the primary contact person for Youth and Family ministries at Grace Presbyterian, helping to lead and develop new and creative models of ministry for the future. -Build intentional and meaningful relationships with youth, both in church and in the community, with the purpose of helping to develop and strengthen their individual faith journeys. -Participate in activities involving children, youth and their families including activities and events in the church and greater community. -Overseeing and providing resources for the various spiritual development opportunities that take place primarily on Sunday mornings, but are not limited to that time. -Cultivating, coordinating and training volunteers for all facets of the children and youth spiritual development program. -Coordinate and develop events and celebrations with staff and other volunteers (camp/retreats, vacation bible school, fellowship meetings, special worship opportunities, etc.). -Making direct and continued contact with youth and families through phone calls, emails, personal visits and community events, including attending events youth are involved in, such as sports events, school plays, concerts, etc. -Facilitate information exchange to the Grace community about important issues impacting youth and families. -Develop and mentor a core of youth leadership to help with youth leadership, youth recruitment, program planning and evaluation. Qualifications -Must prioritize unity in working with others, be they staff or volunteers, and have proven effectiveness in working joyfully with volunteers -Spiritual maturity, self-awareness and authenticity – demonstrates a mature faith in Jesus Christ and a basic understanding and agreement with mission based, reformed theology -Able to connect, motivate and relate well with children and youth -Ability to communicate and relate well with adults and congregational leadership -Ability to lead, organize and equip others in ministry -Entrepreneurial and self-motivated (this is a start-up position), but prioritizes the value of unity and cooperation in church leadership -Ability to portray professionalism and maintain confidentiality -Demonstrate a passion for working with youth and families and a willingness to work variable hours based on program needs Salary: This is a full-time, contract position (40 hours per week) with salary in the range of $25,000-$30,000/year, depending upon experience. A benefits stipend will also be offered. Start date is negotiable, but we would like to fill the position as soon as possible.
