Sardis Presbyterian Church, a 2,300-member congregation of the PC (USA), is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a part-time Contemporary Worship Leader. The candidate will demonstrate a strong Christian faith and possess passion and enthusiasm for contemporary Christian music. We are seeking a candidate with a demonstrated ability to effectively lead worship in a contemporary setting, including actively engaging worshippers in participation and transitioning between elements of the service. This individual will act as worship leader for the church's weekly Sunday morning contemporary worship service and monthly Saturday evening service. This person will also lead and conduct a youth praise team and must have a recognizable ability to relate well to teenagers. The candidate must be a strong vocalist and also be proficient on either piano or guitar. This position reports to the Minister of Music and requires 20 hours/week.
Qualifications Experience leading music or worship in a contemporary setting Strong vocal ability and proficiency on piano or guitar Passion for contemporary Christian music Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate well to teenagers Working knowledge of sound engineering Be organized, professional, and flexible
Duties and Responsibilities Participate with pastoral staff and Minister of Music in planning and development of contemporary worship services, including weekly Sunday morning and monthly Saturday evening services Select and rehearse music with worship band and vocalists Lead band and vocalists during worship services, actively engaging the congregation and transitioning between elements of the service Lead a youth praise team, including recruiting youth to participate, rehearsing, and leading during worship Other duties as determined by the Minister of Music
