Jackie, my heart broke for you as I read this post. I led worship in a church with a woman pastor that I had terrible strife with for a few years, so it's not just a male thing. She was extremely jealous of the fact that her congregation was growing because the worship quality had so very much improved over the previous years when her children were leading worship. At the time I knew very little about music (since then I have learned the open worship keyboard technique taught by Kent Henry), but I was definitely anointed to lead worship and I am gifted with a beautiful voice. Every time I prayed to be released from the stressful situation, God simply told me to wait on Him and He would guide my path. After a very trying period of time, He released me from the position. I realize now that He was trying to give her grace and help her see the gift He had given her. Not me, but someone He had chosen for the position. She is now back to having her children lead worship and barely has a a handful of people in her congregation because she allowed her jealousy to control both her and God's church that He has put her in charge of. My heart goes out to you, but I also pray your church leaders are awakened to the gift God has given them in you. I fear if they squeeze you out they may never be so blessed again. You are in my prayers!
