Re: Re: Are some denominations more accepting of women as leaders?
Message:Dawn - Its interesting that a Baptist pastor told you that. My pastor (Southern Baptist church) says that the church will actually ordain women as ministers of music, youth, or education. They do not allow women to lead a church in the capacity of pastor or deacon, as they feel these positions are only for the men.One question for you... Have you been through a study on your spiritual gifts? If you haven't, I'd highly recommend it. In the last few months I've been through several of these studies and questionaires. Some of the courses are much better than others. End result for me was that it helped me confirm on paper the calling I'd felt in my heart. That with a lot of prayer has helped me be bold and in some cases patient as I seek out what I'm supposed to be doing. I realized that God is leading me to full-time service - pretty scary, but exciting. I also realized that he doesn't need me to make that happen, he just needs me to be willing. And if the calling is true, then it doesn't have to happen overnight. (I'm not real good at this waiting stuff!) I've decided that until THE door opens it would be a good use of my time to get ready (more indepth bible study, etc.) Good luck with your quest. I'd be happy to talk to you from time to time if you like. You can email me at jmscep@direcway.com God Bless!
