Re: I have a Question!
Lacey, Go for it guilt free! Women in church leadership is a sticky subject in the Christian world and it's hard for people to get over centuries of prejudice - but i suggest you study the issue yourself. The Bible has lots of examples of women worship leaders specifically. Miriam, for one, was a worship leader (Exodus 15:20-21)as well as a prophet and a called leader to the nation along side her brothers, Moses and Aaron (Micah 6:4). Deborah was a judge, prophet, and leader for God's people(Judges 4:4-5), who also happened to be a worship leader (Judges 5). In the New Testament, the Bible says "...everyone has a psalm..."(I Corinthians 14:26). Everyone means everyone, not just men. Either men or women can lead in song. In the English, this verse doesn't hold half the meaning that it originally did - so it sounds weak. But in context of that whole chapter, book, and the rest of the NT, that verse alone means: "What then shall we say, church? When you come together, everyone (male or female, slave or free, Jew or Greek, who is gifted in a particular ministry) has (posseses, directs, owns to share, has the right to direct or give) a psalm (worship, praise or prayer to music), or a word of instruction(doctrine), a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening (building up) of the church".Let me encourage you by saying - it will be a tough position, and you need to know inside and out God's Word on the matter, but never take what people say over what God is telling you in your spirit!
