Hello again Deb,
First of all, No, I am not the worship leader at my church. I am a member of our praise team which consists of six and also a member of our adult choir. I, like you, am just a sinner saved by grace and I choose to direct my singing toward the wonderful being who offered me that salvation. Also like you, I have no prior "musical" training....just an ear for great music. I share your belief that god led you to this site so that you might have the advice of others who can relate to the closed minds that can be met when dealing with worship issues. I am not even certain that I can give you the advice that will make a difference but I care about what you are facing and can offer my constant prayer in favor of your efforts. Please don't give up! As harsh as it may sound, who cares if they tire of hearing you sing. God does not tire of hearing you so long as your heart is where it should be...and it appears to me that it is. Continue inviting those who may be interested to meet with you and talk about the heart of worship. Psalm 100 says "come before him with joyful songs" and if you have to do it alone for awhile, than do it! And if you look out at the congregation and see the straight emotionless faces...look up, because there is without a doubt one smiling face above.
