Lacey, This question is loaded!The title worship leader is subjective to any denomination. Some churches do not have Worship Leaders they have song leaders etc. How is the sturcture within your church? Does your church believe that women should be in church leadership? If so you are up against religion and ignorance of the word regarding this issue. I can't go further without knowing more of the history of your denomination. There are many books that will help you with your senior project and for your personal information.
A word of encouragement to you - A Worship Leader is a person who leads worship with their lifestyle. There is nothing unbiblical about a woman leading worship.
However, if you are looking to just sing in front of the congreation then you must take your research much deeper, don't miss the purpose of what we are called to do. It takes much humility and brokeness.
If the fire of God burns in you to lead others with your lifestyle pointing them to God. Then go for it! I feel very strongly about my call to ministry - get as much information and knowledge for yourself and don't take anyone's word for it.
