Hi, Crystal ...What a challenge! I'm an experienced worship leader, and my husband and I have just started a new, non-denominational church. I'm constrained by not having musicians (we're using CDs), but I'm totally free to flow in the Holy Spirit, which is a wonderful blessing.
Many years ago, when I began leading worship, I didn't really know what I was doing, so I trusted the Holy Spirit. The presence of God was so powerful that a cloud would fill the room. Then I began "learning" how to lead worship the "right" way: the cloud of His presence ceased appearing, the people weren't touched the way they had been ... it was plain ol' church again, instead of that special meeting with the Lord!
If you truly love the Lord with all your heart, if your desire is to MINISTER TO HIM, then praise and worship should be more than just singing. If everyone in your worship team, if all your musicians, would make ministering to the Lord their HIGHEST PRIORITY, if you will all pay the price to learn what pleases the Father's heart, the heart of Jesus, and the heart of the Holy Spirit, then praise and worship will be special indeed ... MUCH MORE THAN JUST SINGING ... and the presence of the Lord will fall in your services.
May the Lord lead you, give you wisdom, supernatural understanding ... may He soften the hearts of those with whom you are working, and create a deep hunger and thirst in the music ministry to truly know Him - to seek Him - to please Him!
God bless you - Paulette
