A Hard Time Taking Authority
Hello fellow(ettes!) Women Worship Leaders!Do any of you have a hard time putting your foot down as to what you you want?A couple of weeks ago we did the song "I Will Call Upon The Lord" you know the song with the echos. Well, I didn't want it to drag and felt I wanted it to be the same tempo through out the song-you know when you hit "The Lord Liveth...". Usually it is a tad bit slower in the verse and than kicks in for the chorus. I wanted a kickier version throughout the whole song!Well, the drummer did not agree and wanted to continue the way we usually do it.It was okay to keep it that way and I was fine letting it go. But I was asked later by our sax player if I was upset with them not following my lead. So not only do I not continue to press the issue or be more authoritative but the sax player was upset (taking an offense for me).How do you handle these types of conflicts? Do you think it is different for a women leading other men on the team and being more authoritive?
