Message:My question is a little different than most I have seen on the site. I was fortunate enough to grow up in the church I have now been called into ministry for. The stage was already set for two contemporary services being pretty edgy contemporary (no strategic blending from traditional to contemporary) and we have had women in leadership for as long as I can remember. So You ladies that are having struggles with these issues I have the utmost respect for and pray for guidance and descernment in your ministry. I value your wisdom and your willingness and humbleness in sharing your questions and ministry struggles. Thank you! My question has to do with excellence in using gifts. When you put new musicians on your worship teams whether instumentalists or vocalists, do you set a bar as to the giftedness of volunteers? Being in a church that already had musicians in place that had either been playing or singing with each other for years, there is a chemistry there and an excellence that has been reached. When someone new comes into the picture who is not at the same level of excellence as the other team members, it tends to lower the over-all smoothness and tightness of the musical worship set. Do we place people on the team, even if they are not up to the bar that the rest of the team is? Some would say, "as long as their heart is in the right place, God doesn't care what they sound like". I don't want to turn down anyone and I feel it is my job as a music minister to minister and support. How do I balance? Do I need to? If anyone has ever been in this place and can help I would appreciate it.In His grip, Marcy
