Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Traditional and Comtemporary Church Services
Message:God is Holy. He is the great I AM. Worship of our Holy God should be reverent, respectful. With the intrusion of the loud contemporary music methods, many services are no longer reverent, peaceful, comforting. Is the church having more influence on the world, or the world having more influence on the church? I recently heard a preacher say in a sermon that for some reason our churches today are not respected like they once were. I think one reason is because to walk into a church sanctuary these days is often like walking into any secular building set up for a rock concert; -- the band, the screens for visuals & videos. I fear our churches are no longer viewed by those outside the church as "Houses of God." The casual approach to "worship" these days is disrespectful of our Most Holy God. Remarks made by young adults & teens are often disrespectful of long-time, older Christians, in reference to our preference for the quiet, reverent, traditional worship. As someone mentioned in this thread, for those who desire the traditional worship, the volume & beat of the modern music, the hand clapping, and such does not present an atmosphere for quiet, reverent worship. Assigning the term "Christian" to anything does not make it Christian. Such as Christian Rock or Christian Rap. If this music can be used in certain settings to witness to the lost, that is great. But, as to our worship services, I fear that much of the type of modern music and instruments used today is not acceptable to God. This is sadly an issue that can be divisive. That can't be pleasing to the Lord.
