Again, I don't think there would be anything wrong with expressing excitement at anything God does or anything that inspires us toward God. I've been in services where the church errupted after every baptism. I've been in some that wept quietly. Both are a response. It's the same thing at funerals. Some are solemn, others celebrate their loved one's passing into heaven. To call either one wrong is simply shallow and lacking in maturity or understanding. I'm not accusing you friend, of being immature or lacking. I'm just saying that some people are. The point is not to say which expression is o.k. and which isn't. It's to say that every genuine expression of gratitude, thankfulness, or inspired response is received by God and probably echoed by angels in heaven.

When someone is truly inspired by something, it builds up the need for response. Old testament worship was often even performed in a responsive manner. Why should we take the joy and feeling out of that response? What are we giving God then? Motions?

Again, to answer your question, I don't see anything wrong with applauding, or amening, or praising God after a sermon, a salvation, or practicing communion. All of those things should well up inside of us a desire to express gratitude and thanks to God for His grace, His gift, and His promise to share communion with us again.

Sorry to ramble. I know it's hard to read tone in text. But please hear my heart and don't assume that I'm being "edgy" in what I've written.

God bless,
Johnny
