Hi Sylvia--

Thanks for your advise. I appreciate you for taking the time to answer me.

It would be my joy to work in this ministry. In fact, my husband and I are known in the church for being very supportive of the music ministry.

My concern is this. This church is known for hiring professional musicians from the symphony, opera, etc. It is a major church (famous for it's music department) in a major city. Frequently, they hire people who have never set foot in our church.

Also, I have experienced, as have many of my colleagues, a lack of being taken seriously if one starts out singing in the choir. Some people think you are just volunteering and happy to do so. I absolutely do no mean that in any way to sound arrogant. I'm just looking at it from the perspective of being in the performing arts for many, many years.

Hmmm...... This needs some pondering.
