I did a study once of the Psalms, and in the Psalms, David told us what kind of instruments to use. However, I had major problems with the instruments he chose. Most of them, I have no idea what they even look like. And while we have perhaps a few liars in the church, we have no lyres at all.The rest of the Psalms made sense, but I asked myself what was the point of God asking to use those specific instruments? If all scripture is inspired (2 Timothy 3:16) there must be a reason.
I think God was taking the instruments of that culture, and applying them to worship. He wanted them to use their instruments, for His glory.
How does that apply to your situation? Well, you grew up in a culture with a piano and organ, most likely. So you should use those instruments to praise God. Others are growing up with drums, electric guitars and basses. They should use those instruments to praise God.
God probably hasn't given us the role of telling our churches what to do. But He has probably given us the freedom to seek churches that worship God in Spirit and truth, and also fit our culture.
I would encourage you to remember too that one of the oldest forms of worship is sacrifice. So if you can't find a church that fits your culture, remember that sacrifice is part of your worship to Him.
Hope that is partly clear.
His grace, my thoughts,
Ron
