Soundcard to Mackie SR24-2

Message:I hooked up the line in from our computer soundcard to the mackie SR24-2 soundboard and it puts a low hum through the system. I think it might be because the soundcard is stero connection and the soundboard is setup in mono which creates a ground loop? Does anyone know how to fix this. I went to Radio Shack and bought both mono and stero connectors, but it still gives a hum.
