I agree with Brent. Some of my reply depends on how often you are moving the gear, and what you are moving it in. Shock mount racks are pretty expensive. Get good racks. Avoid bottom of the line stuff like roto racks (SKB). The SKB stuff is good for modest use, but the roto racks are pretty cheap. Check out the gear mags for better grade stuff. Anything rated as ATA flight is a much better unit.

You can take your effects and fragile gear and put it in a separate rack so it can be more easily lifted and moved. Usually the amps are heavier, and require more effort to move. Separating the equipment into smaller racks makes them easier to move. It takes up more space in the van, but you'll just have to decide which is a better option. I think several smaller racks is better than one or two five-thousand pounders.

Casters have an impact on stage amps. Bass cabs and guitar cabs sound different when put on casters. For racks though, I think the issue is one of practicality in moving the gear. NONE of the gear should be jostled too much. Your moving requirements will be less demanding than the touring pros who are dealing with tractor trailers, flights, busses, etc.
