Re: Projector Recommendation
A lot depends on how far you expect to throw the image and how much control you have of the light in the room. You'll need to pull together some basic information before making a decision. You might try going to Fowler (http://www.fowlerinc.com/default.htm). They have some really great references and buyers guides to help you get started. I've also been talking with the folks at Harbinger Communications (http://www.harbingeronline.com/v0011/Projection_equipment/equipment.html) These are both companies that focus on churches, so it would be a good place to start. (They can and do consult long distance and over the internet.)It's all a question of how many lumens you need, and cost is directly related to lumens. We have a 2200 lumen projector that works great in our multipurpose room (max seating is about 125). We only throw the image about 10 feet, and it's no more than 30 feet from the screen to the back of the room. We wanted to be able to keep the lights on while people were singing. Our present system (that we purchased from Pinnacle (http://www.pinnacleav.com/homepage.htm) ran us about $10K 2 years ago. (Comparable units now probably run about $8K). But I've been to a church that seats about 300 that uses a 5000 lumen projector that can hardly be seen because they have no control over the light coming in through their clarestory windows.Good luck in your searching!Cathy DeFreeseLibertyville, IL
