If you have premeium access you can get 16:9 aspect ratio or high-res images or the free images they provide. As an image to place in a PowerPoint slide choose insert/picture/from file/. When the picture is inserted you can resize or reposition in in your slide. As a background image, choose: format/background/fill effects/picture. Just be sure the image is downloaded in the correct format,or have a way to maniplulate the image to the correct size for your background. For instance you can create a stunning PowerPoint presentation in 16:9 aspect ratio using the 16:9 images from WebShots.
