Can someone give me some advice? I'm an older (mid-50s), technically-challenged guy who grew up playing the piano. Over the past 15 years, I've played a lot of synth in our worship team, mainly because no one else was willing (I still prefer the piano). I've mostly played Korgs, and they've been okay, I guess. Our current synth has bitten the dust, and I'm looking to get another one for our church. I don't use our synth to record tracks or anything else; I just play it -- mostly a background of strings, B-3 organ, brass, and an occasional different sound (like steel drums) that are found in the General Midi bank of sounds. Ideally, I'd like to have a synth with more of a piano feel (weighted or semi-weighted keys), although it's not a real high priority if it adds substantially to the cost. (We are also cost-conscious.) I'd like one with good quality sound, but I don't need the technological bells and whistles -- just a keyboard that's easy to play, easy to change sounds in the middle of a song, and fairly inexpensive. (About ten years ago we got a new Korg X2 for about $800, if I recall correctly. I'd like to stay in that range, or less.) I'm not necessarily looking for something new, if a good used keyboard would do the job. I've looked on e-Bay and see some keyboards that might work well, but I just don't know enough about them to know what's good. Any advice? I'll really appreciate it.
