Let's think for ourselves
In reading this article I ask myself 2 questions.... 1- If the writer truly believes there is no difference between men and women...why does she write to women only??? 2- Why is there no scripture to back up her position?? The one scripture that she quoted was misused to try to prove her point. Acts 10:34. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 10:35. But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. This was in reference to God's work of salvation through Jesus being available to not just the Jew, but to the Gentile also. And lest you should run to another of the popular "woman" scriptures being misquoted today....Galations 3 3:22. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. 3:23. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 3:24. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 3:25. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 3:26. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 3:27. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 3:28. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 3:29. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. This again is in reference to the full promise of salvation through Jesus Christ. It is not a "women's rights" scripture. And to the lady who wrote the following in response to another lady's defense of the scripture....I have followed her rather rude/sarcastic letter with a few scriptures for her to consider. Women in Worship God gives different gifts to all of his children. He also sent his Son JESUS CHRIST to die for our sins therefore there is a new covenant in which we live. If I am given the gift of preaching or leading worship, and follow what the "HOLY SPIRITS" promptings are, then am I not following GOD's word? Also, does it not say in the God's word that if we do NOT use the gifts that we are given it is a quenching of the Holy Spirit? "Do you ask your husband if you should vote in your church or wear a veil on your head during service?" My opinion: GO to your prayer closet and ask GOD!!!Submitted by: Donna Location: Coon Rapids, MN Date Added: 2003-06-24

Wow!! Well written article. As a woman in worship ministry, a ministry that has been dominated by the male gender, I too sometimes feel inadequate and question the directives of God. But today, I thank Darlene for sharing and the insight I received through this article will be applied.

I Needed to Read This
I totally needed to read this. God has been trying to get my attention about taking the position of Worship Minister at our small, struggling church, but I have been running as fast as I could in the other direction, for all the reasons stated in the article. It has given me the courage to say "Yes" to Him -- and see where He will lead! THANK YOU!!

Is it REALLY right?
I have just read something that simply blows me away.. God calling us... do what the Spirit says? wow.. yes, they are true. we should do god's will, HOWEVER he has put limits on us. I would like to quote a few scriptures for you: 1 Timothy 2:11-13 A woman must quietly recieve instruction with entire submissivness. But i do NOT allow a woman to teach or excersize authority over a man but to remain quiet. For it was Adam who was created first, then Eve." 1 Corintians 14:34-35 The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is imporper for a woman to speak in church. Did someone miss this?? Just b/c women have rights, does that mean they can change the Bible to suit their wants? society may change, but GOD doesn't.
