Offering HOLY fire
God is truly moving upon worship leaders to defend the fire and keep it burning...As a worship leader/director, I was faced with a very difficult decision. After seeking God in fasting and in prayer, I became aware of two worship team members that were having an "affair" but no one had evidence to sit them down. I began to ask GOD to show us the TRUTH. After confronting them, the masks came off and I had to request that they sit down. As WORSHIP TEAM leaders, We must always remember that we REPRESENT HIS NAME not our OWN. HE will make us accountable for defending HIS FIRE and keeping the altar holy.

strange fire
I agree that as worship leaders we have to be very carefull to give in to God only .When we prepare to lead the congregation in to the throne room of God.That we don't allow our flesh to lead us ,Or it is all in vain. The Annoiting God has placed on my life is far more important than a request from someone in the congregation or their feelings about me ,if I don't deliver a favorite song for them in a service.I take my position very seriously,I am to lead and God leads me.For who knows better than God,the way into the throne room.

So true!!
I myself pray that I never, ever present unholy fire before His presence. When our ministry gets together to present ourselves before God before ministering in church, we always pray that His presence be with us and That the Holy Spirit take control of all we sing and minister. We pray that our main focus be to praise and worship Him. We always pray that the the flock unite to our worship. we also pray that we never give into pleasing the congregation thus placing our sight far from God. It hurts to be in a place where God is not the focus of the praise and worship... that the flesh is being catered to and that they care more about pleasing people. When God becomes the one and only reason for our song and worship our churches will change !!!! Bless you!

Praise God! The last paragraph, in my opinion, sums up what (and who) "true worship" is really about. :)

Yes Lord
Praise the Living God...I have been crying out to God on this very thing..thinking sometimes is it me being too critical of the things I have seen. Then the Holy SPirit reminds me that He reveals everything with a purpose. We have gone away from God to the "churchy formulas and routines of worship" and we must come back into the fullness of God. We as a people have forgotten the cross. There are clockwatchers and flesh putting God into a box. We must expand in Christ and push towards seeking His face and not stopping at His hand. Help us Father that we would worship in spirit and truth for that is where you are . His spirit dwells not in the fleshly ways of simply just singing a mere song...Thank you for sharing your heart Debbi, the Lord knew I needed to know I was not alone is this cry for His glory to fall upon us..we must keep praying and do our part ...in leading His people into His presence for His light and glory will remove the darkness and all things will bow to His Holy Name...Blessings upon you...I would like to hear more about what you could not write in your letter....I sense it is exactly what I am seeing in this hour. Blessings to all.

Authenticity
Great word Debbi!I am struck by the idea of being authentic when we lead worship; that we authentically express ourselves and our relationship with God; that we lead out of our authentic passion for God rather than our paycheck for our families; and that we authentically worship God by authentic truth. Jesus said that He was “The way, the truth and the life.” By honoring truth, we honor Christ. I too have found that the only way to worship in truth is to know the truth and apply it to my worship. Let’s talk about giving as an example. There was a time that I gave because it was a “Godly responsibility.” Then I learned that God was a giver and always gives more than what is needed. Giving changed from a Christian responsibility to the privilege of being a coworker with God and an opportunity reflect His nature in my actions. Coming to the realization that God was generous did not affect the truth… God is, and has always been, generous. However because my attitudes toward giving changed, I could be an authentic giver. Our daily private worship authenticates our public worship ministry.
