Worship is a lifestyle
I would like to say how spot on Debbi Barnett is in her article on the Samaritan woman.Far too many churches all over the world promote worship as something that we do during a particular style of music in a service on a Sunday. Fast music is called praise and slow music is worship.Worship is a lifestyle of intimacy with our heavenly Father who is seeking not worship but worshippers who will worship Him 24/7 with and in every part of their lives, anywhere. This kind of life is what the unsaved are looking at and will attract them to want what that person has. If ever anybody wants to learn more about a worship lifestyle contact Psalmody International at www.psalmody.org I have done one of their courses and am currently doing another and I can honestly say it has transformed my life. Bless you.

Worship Leader/Music Pastor
What a great overview of this passage of scripture. So many times we as Christians feel we need to be in the right enviornment to worship and that is not right. I have told our congregation many times worship is a 24/7 lifestyle. It is something we need to live..Give your self daily to God. When we do this, we will see God reveal himself in ways we would never thought were possible..Thanks again

Spirit and in Truth
You were blessed to render much wisdom for those who are perplexed by the meaning of worship or how to engage therin. As you stated, those who wish to participate in worship services, must first know the meaning (according to scripture). There is no such thing as a worship service, but there is a worship of God. When members congregate or assemble themselves together for worship e.g. praising God with the fruit of the lips, giving thanks in spirit filled adorations.

I agree with you that worshipping God need not be in music, but worshiping God must be in "spirit and truth". God is good, and seeking His expertise for worship through prayer and the acknowledgement of His Son, Jesus Christ, watch out for the Spirit of the Lord to intervene and take participants onto a spiritually wholesome and satisfying plane. God is Good, and that is what I know.

Worshiping God is giving Him the honor that is due, and being sincere. Whether one person or 5000, the purpose is to be in "spirit and truth."

Scriptures of Reference

John 4:23 But the hour is coming and now is when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.

Matthew 4:10 For it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.

Acts 16:14 She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God.

Acts 18:7 And he departed from there and entered the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.

Rev 7:11 And all the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces and worshiped God.

Genesis 24:26 Then the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord.

True Worship
Hey Ms. Debbie, this is my first time writing you. I happen to find this site as I was looking for more information on the samaritan women for an upcoming conference I'm minstering in on 1/4/03. Anyway I agree wholeheartly with your statement about worship. Before I read your message God had revealed those same words to me.

God Bless You and may He continue to give you words of revelation to reveal to his people.

Your getting it now
Hi Debbi,

Been awhile since we last spoke, I trust all is well with you. Sounds like your making progress in your walk with God. I rejoice with you.

Moving on from the temple worship of the Jews is a difficult step to make. Many still haven't gotten this truth and continue to model their worship after what David did in the Old Testament. They are quick to say " we don't worship an Unknown God " , but hold on to worshiping in the "temple". I think there is little evidence that the woman at the well 'got' what Jesus was saying. But the rending of the curtain that seperates the holy place in the temple at Jesus death makes the way clear. While for a short time the jewish believers continued in the synagouges ( sp? ) , this was soon abandoned in favor of house churches where a personal experience of worship was apparent. Not trying to rid you of a job, but no worship leaders were mentioned, or needed.

The last sentence above sounded like a bad way to end this, that's NOT the message I want to leave you with. Your article left me feeling that you are desiring more in your worship experience and I pray that God richly provides you with understanding and grace.

peace and love, don
