Keep ON Keepin On
Thank you so much for this article. The Lord is faithful!! I'm going through a place where I just want to quit being the Minister of Music and just become a bench warmer. I truly love the Lord and want only to please him. If I didn't have his word hidden in my heart and personal relationship with him, I would have quit a long time ago. I have been playing for our Church for over 13 years. I was one of the Charter members (as a teen). Now we are in our last building phase. There is no "team of musicians" at my church. It's just me. I conduct rehearsal on Thursdays and play every Sunday at 8, 11, and 6pm etc. I was also playing for the Youth/Teen Choir and rehearsing with them for over 8 years 3 saturdays out of the month. I also play during midweek service. I've grown weary and I marvel at the fact that just about every other church I attend they have 3 or 4 extremely talented keyboardist, etc. I often ask the Lord why hasn't he sent some of those musicians our way. He has often answered back with "Faithful is he who called you, He will do it (I Thess 5:24). We are just about 3 months away from completing a 1000 seat sanctuary. And of course as the congregation grows, so goes the other ministries. I would like to see our Ministry grow but I cannot do it without help. I believe that the Lord will send someone to come along side of me. Please pray that I will be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the works of the Lord.

Women In The Ministry.
I am having a difficult time with pastor not letting women preach the gospel. I don't want to be in disobedience. I would like to know why it is so difficult.

Goooood word!
Timing is everything...so they say.
Your timing on this subject is perfect.
If no one else gained anything, I have been ministered to, and helped out of a large 'pity-party'.
21 years of leading worship...loving God...loving people, and periodically being stung by the enemy through 'God's people'....? (Well, they say they are anyway).
Being a leader is sometimes a lonely position. People think that we are too busy or too "mature"...we intimidate without even trying.
And yet...like the song says..."They don't know that I go running home when I fall down...cause deep inside this armor, the warrior is a child".
Thanks for your honesty.
You have blessed and encouraged me today.

Keep On Keeping On - Perfect Balance
Hi Dear Debbi:
I came to the website looking for your article on platform wear. Not for pulpit staff, but for mothers of young girls that are coming to church (all sizes) with clothing too tight, too thin, panties showing because they are not wearing slips. As tolerant as I am sometimes I want to, and do, cover my 15 year old son's eyes. He laughs at me, but shakes his head and wonders out loud what's on the mothers minds. He thinks the mothers should be able to look at their daughters and know to put slips on themselves and their daughers.
Wellll, Debbi, I am now beginning my last year of breast cancer treatment (thanks be to God I am still cancer free) and getting a little more involved in the various ministries that interest me.
I'm so glad I came across this article. I remind myself to be more tolerant of other's, particularly those under the "guise" of religion, and in reference to myself, after 4 years of relative isolation. I still need to rest mid-day and don't always do that. I needlessl

The Perfect Balance
Hi Debbi,

Your article is timely. I recently have been considering the importance of self-care in the ministry. Jesus had times of incredible ministry. But this was not his whole life. He worshipped, prayed, spent time alone in isolation, and went to a lot of parties. He balanced giving of himself and resting, prayer and ministry, isolation and socializing. In light of Jesus’ example, I am reflecting on my own spiritual life; have I maintained a balance between ministry and prayer, between being in a group and being alone with God and between work and rest. Being a type A personality, I am really good at doing things. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of the things I don’t consider productive like resting, being alone with God and socializing with friends outside the context of the church.

I’ve been asking the hard questions of myself. If leading worship on Sunday takes approximately 6 to 10 of preparation and presentation, how many hours should I be in prayer? I work approximately 60 hours, commute about 15 hours, go to school for 4 hours and study about 18 hours a week; how many hours should I rest? The bible sets the precedent of 24 hours. What am I saying about myself and God when my schedule is overcrowded? I am in public’s eye about 13 hours a week, how many hours should I be alone with God? I confess my life is out of balance and I ask myself, How can I do want Jesus did, if I don’t do what Jesus did. Jesus spent days and weeks alone with God, hours in prayer and visited a lot of parties. Jesus also ministered the Kingdom of God, and had a world-changing ministry. Jesus lived a perfect balance. Are we?

May the peace of God guard you heart, mind a soul,

John White

Keep-on, Keep-in on.
Thank you Debbi for this message, I know the difficulty that comes with any Leadership (which is why I shy away from it), especially for all Worship Leaders and company, because this used to belong to the evil one. But I Praise God for the Strength that is Passed to you and the worship team. Because no matter what the circumstances are everything gets down to one thing, "It is all about HIM".
One thought that keeps me humble is this "Pride comes before the fall", and I'd rather be humble than humilitated.

In Him,
Joni P.
