look at the message
Take the comments in the totality of the entire article.

I don't think the author is sugesting God doesn't move. But, said better might be. It is easier to ditch the plan you thought God had for when He moves differently than to create the plan you should of had 3 months ago when he told you how He was going to move then.

The Danger of Being Extreme
Man plans but it is God who weighs the intents of the heart; It is God who really makes things happen.

Here we have to face the fact that worship is a two way traffic. The worshipper comes to God and God comes to the worshipper with His power and presence. In coming to God, there is nothing basically wrong being prepared or unprepared. God loves and respects both programmed and spontaneous worship. What I guess is not acceptable to God is when we try to be extreme on either, being too legalistically planned that we forget about God's power to sovereignly move or we get disappointed when things didnt go our way on one hand, or when we are to be too loose and spontaneous that everything becomes chaotic and out of control on the other hand.

To be too tied up to one's preferend way of worship while being critical of other means of coming to God is no less than pharisaical. God cannot be boxed. In the final analysis what is more important is not just the kind of worship but the kind of heart we possess in worshiping God.

I dis-disagree
If planning is such a bad thing, then why would the pastor study and plan his/her message for Sunday morning. Why do any of us do the things we do (like making sure the worship leader's mic has batteries)? Why not just show up and see what happens???

I totally disagree.
While I totally undertand the purpose of charting and planning our time in service, the statement that concerns me is regarding it being easier to "ditch" the plan IF God moves vs. planning for if He doesn't move.

When is God ever NOT moving? God is present and moving all of the time. We as worship leaders do the people of God a disservice when we allow the emotionalism of the flesh to dictate and determine IF GOD MOVING or not. In taking on this thought process..."Well they weren't crying or up on their feet...God didn't move... ", we are no different than the prophets of Baal cutting and screaming as they waited for their god to answer. Our God is not moved by our emotions, circumstances nor is He confined to our charts, time lines graphs and orders of services. God is moved by one thing: OUR FAITH and the confession of His Word (the angels harken to hear the voice of His word). The job of the worship leader is to stir the faith of the people to another level in God not plan the area's in which his people need a faith boost!

With all of this planning are we really allowing the Holy Spirit to flow freely or are we blocking the flow of God completely? Maybe the people will leap and dance for Joy or maybe they will sit quietly as the Lord works on their heart condition, heals and delivers them. Or maybe they will sit without emotion for the entire service...(does that mean God didn't move?). However God decides to moves or manifest His power has nothing to do with us and our plans but if we seek the face of God for direction and learn to discern his voice allowing him to use us freely and completely then all is well. I believe it is possible to plan God right out of our services with our efforts to "safe gaurd" or "Fail Proof" our services... surely God is not Glorified in this. We don't need an insurance plan with Him God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly but our spirit must be open to receive and hear from Him and allowing what we've receive to be transfered to the people of God.

What if while we are planning the service series three months in advance complete with the messages and songs to flow just right on the topic of OUR choice...what if God says something else? What if God says.. Go another route, sing a different song, lay before me at the alters for the next few hours no preaching today...I your God and Redeemer be preaching from Zion through the worship.

Will we obey his voice or will we obey our Flow Chart?

If I've misunderstood your article please forgive me but if I haven't my opinion remains. Pray for me as I pray for you.
