Behold, bless ye the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord, which by night stand in the house of the Lord.
Psalm 134:1 (KJV)

And the Levites of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
II Chronicles 20:19 (KJV)

This is the sixth installment in a seven-part series entitled "The Worshiper's Position". When it comes to standing or sitting during the praise & worship period in our church services, everybody still doesn't quite get it. If a high-ranking government official walked into the room, or the Queen of England herself, or some other person worthy of such lofty respect, what would we do? Out of respect for this person's office, we would stand. It would be shown as a matter of disrespect if we did not. If we can stand up for earthly authority, why not Heavenly authority? After all, we are in God's house. He has been merciful and gracious enough to allow us another chance to walk into His house. And if you did not walk in, or are unable to literally stand up before Him, then your heart can surely "stand" in awe of Him. God will receive any heart that is completely yielded to Him. That is the proper order anyway for all of us - heart, then body. But for those of us who are able to use our legs to stand, what is our excuse? We serve a King; as a matter of fact, we serve THE King, who deserves all of our reverence and respect.

In today's text, once God had spoken into their scary situation, we see that the King of Judah, Jehoshaphat, bowed his head with his face to the ground to worship, and all of Judah with him. Then the Levites stood up to praise the Lord with a loud voice. I like that - they stood up! But they didn't just stand up without a purpose. They stood up to DO something! And they did it with a loud voice!

I challenge you today that when praise is going up in your church, stand up! When God is moving in the midst of worship get up and give Him all you have. Stand your body up, bring your heart to full attention, and acknowledge we serve a King who is able to accomplish all things for us (Psalm 57:2 NASB).
