Hebrews 12:28-29 "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so
worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire."
Our worship cannot be what we decide it will be. Our Lord asks for a certain kind of
worship - it must be from the heart, it must be done with reverence and awe, and it is what He wants from us more than
empty words and vain promises. God is not some touchy-feely entity to whom we can address glibly, you better make
sure you're prepared to enter His presence. Read the Old Testament for a taste of what God truly was - a consuming
fire. He demanded obedience, and even though His compassion and mercy for the Israelites was enduring - at some
point He said enough was enough. Brutal? No. Just? Yes. Worship? It's not an optional thing for the Christian.
