Worship is not Music
Thanks for your article. It's always a good idea to go over the basics again. One point I've noticed is the subtle use of the word worship-- like it's interchangable with music. I believe the Bible teaches that worship is giving God glory, and we should seek to glorify Him in anything and everything we do.

Drop by my site some time, http://www.servicebuilder.net for info on planning a worship service.

Thanks again.

What do you do?Shermanetta?
About a year ago at my church we had problems within our praise & worship team. I won't get into details about what was going on, it has been resolved. I was so discouraged...that I saw myself falling more and more into the problem. I decided to do a number of things but, they didn't line up with God's word. I made problems worse at times. How it got resolved was through confession to God, the Pastor, and the parties involved. However, the whole team has changed.
We have new members who are very excited entering into His presence. They are respectful and faithful. They call me and inform me of their tardiness or absences. And most of all I respect them for wanted me to be their leader.I'm not perfect and like David, I have issues, but I can worship effectively now more than ever. Even as a leader we must go through test and trials. This trial has taught me to be a better leader. So, when we gather for rehearsal...we worship, share love, pray together, and study more of His word. and now the focus is back on God. I'm very thankful and very careful to do what honors God the most. So, be encouraged!

What do you do?
Okay I am the First Lady of our church I am also young 26 so I am still learning I am the Prasie & worship leader and the problem I have is some of the women really aren't living the life style to be on the praise and worship team. I did a talk on how important it is to be able to lead your own spirit into worship and that only comes with your life style being under subjection to God's word so my question is after I have done and said what God has told me to do. What do I do. I've given them the change to remove themselves they haven't. Do I just tell them to get it right with God and then come back or just continue to let them sing on the praise team and pray that 1 day they will get it right. Please help me?

Performance
I have a lot to say on this matter but I'll make it short. I have a member of our worship team that continuously refer's to our leading or participating in the worship service as "performing". That word puts a sour note to my ear as I give my all in serving the Lord in leading the church into an attitude of praise and worship.
Any thoughts?

WOW!
This series is great. I have learned that when we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem. I now have a new attitude and am ready to first pray, and then help kick up praise and worship a notch. Thanks!
