Oxymoron

Oxymoron - a figure of speech in which
opposite or contradictory ideas or
terms re combined. There are many examples
of worship in the Bible that can only be
explained as being an oxymoron. When Job
was faced with insurmountable trials the first
thing he did was to offer praise. In our normal state of mind there is nothing remotely
natural to us about stopping and giving praise. Perhaps complaining, questioning and
even sullen obedience, but genuine heart-felt worship..............I don't think so. Isn't it
interesting that King Nebuchadnezzar gave praise to God when Shadrach, Meschach and
Abednego refused to bow down and worship any god except the God of Abraham? The
picture seems to be getting clearer that in all circumstances we must make praise our
first reaction.

Job 1:20-21 "At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to
the ground in worship and said: "naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will
depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away: may the name of the Lord be
praised."
