Bowing

Exodus 4:31 "...and they believed. And when they heard that the Lord was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshipped."

Isn't it interesting that time after time in the New Testament when people were faced with the holiness of Jesus that their first response was to bow down? We've somehow categorized our Sunday morning service to include singing, preaching and giving, but when was the last time we bowed down physically, as well as spiritually, when faced with the holiness of God? I remember my childhood days when prayers always involved kneeling by the side of my bed. I never really knew why I did that, it was just what you did. But, as I grew older it was somehow more fitting my adult status to pray from positions of comfort. There is something humbling now as an adult to submit who I am to His awesomeness, withholding nothing from the One who sees everything I am, and everything I will be in the future, and to bow before Him. When the Bible speaks about falling prostrate at His feet, does it just become a verse or does it become an example to follow, or should it be our reaction to who God is?
