Psalm 100:2 “Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”
Have you ever tried to get the victory over your thought life by changing the song on your
lips? I’ve learned a little trick that helps me get into a worshipful state of mind, and that is
singing a joyful, happy song. Don’t get my wrong, I don’t always feel joyful and happy when I
start, but somewhere things begin to change in my heart when I get the right words on my
lips. When I get the focus off of myself and my problems, the situation seems to change.
Maybe that’s not correct, the situation doesn’t change, my outlook does. It’s difficult to dwell
on the earthly while singing about the heavenly. A favorite of mine is “This is the Day” by Bob Fitts. As I sing the words I begin to realize that this day is a gift from God and I can either rejoice
and celebrate the goodness of His love, or I can choose to let circumstance and the mundane
control how I feel.
