Chris Tomlin

Nashville, TN) September 21, 2006 –– sixstepsrecords/Sparrow Records’ lead-worshiper and GMA Artist of the Year, Chris Tomlin, releases his fourth studio album, See The Morning, Sept. 26 amidst wide critical acclaim and radio support.

As millions of people around the world sing the songs of Chris Tomlin every week at collegiate gatherings, worship services and concert settings, millions more are hearing his songs on the radio. The first single from See The Morning, “Made To Worship,” has become Tomlin’s fourth No. 1 radio hit landing the top spot this week on Christian AC radio (R&R, CRW). The multi-format hit is also No. 10 and No. 16 on the R&R INSP and CHR charts, and takes the top spot on CRW’s Comprehensive and Monitored 1 charts garnering more than 17 million impressions this week alone.

See the Morning is the much-anticipated follow-up to Tomlin’s Gold-selling Arriving and is meant to be a “record of hope.” Here is how the critics are already responding to the album:

“[Chris Tomlin] delivers See The Morning, the most earnest and enduringly worshipful project of his career… A captivating view of the Son.” – CCM in a Grade “A” review. (Sept. 2006)

“Eschewing celebrity and music industry politics, Tomlin has a reputation for staying grounded and focusing on creating music for the church.” – Billboard (Sept. 2, 2006)

“Whether he’d claim it or not, Chris Tomlin is a prophet. As quickly as he records an album, it becomes the lyrical theology of our generation. His songs are sung in churches around the world, sculpting our doctrine and shaping our ideas about God. He never sought out such a heavy responsibility, but there’s no denying it: Chris Tomlin is a voice in the wilderness of modern Christian worship…With the upcoming release of his fourth studio album, See The Morning, Tomlin continues to shout about something much larger than himself.” – Relevant Leader (Fall 2006)

“It's quite possible that Chris Tomlin's fourth studio album is the one that firmly seals his place as the ultimate innovator in praise and worship music…. Chris' confident, clear vocals are at their pinnacle, as is his songwriting and collaboration…There are no low points; each track consistently evokes adoration.” – All Music Guide (Sept. 26, 2006)

“Tomlin fans will not be disappointed in this rousing rocker, for he has amped up the energy level since Arriving, slipping in some appealing guitar effects while retaining the glorious power to move on both the hearts and feet of listeners. He brings his usual genius for writing and arranging songs that vocalize our deepest corporate yearnings…” – Suite101.com (Aug. 2006)

Even as radio and the critics respond to the album, all worshipers can experience the new music from See The Morning prior to it’s release at the newly re-launched www.ChrisTomlin.com, where you can also find the latest tour information, join the “street team” and more.

Tomlin was named Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year at the 37th Annual GMA Music Awards this year. Receiving five Dove trophies, Tomlin also closed the awards show with his Dove Award-winning Song of the Year, “How Great Is Our God,” from his current, RIAA Certified Gold-selling album, Arriving. Tomlin received his first Dove Award in 2005 for Worship Album of the Year for Arriving. Tomlin has written 17 Top CCLI songs sung by millions around the world every week as people gather to worship, including “How Great Is Our God,” “Forever,” “Holy Is The Lord” and “We Fall Down.”
