Ultimate Syth Workstation
Wow!!! The Motif ES8 is a dangerously addictive synth workstation from Yamaha, and perhaps one of their very best ever. The 3 layered Stereo Grand Piano is as good as it can get on any keyboard! Pads are good but not stunning... I think Triton has better pad sounds. Arpeggios are an added bonus for studio or sequence playing. I'm not immpressed with the sax/horn sections, but then again, using these for live plays from a keyboard sounds cheesy, so who cares... I would have to agree with the other reviewers... if you plan to move this monster, be careful not to hurt your back...yea, .. don't let it's gorgeous looks fool you..its that heavy! This keyboard has one of the steepest learning curves for sequencing and the useless manual makes it utterly confusing. I've found user interactions on motifator.com forums + an instructional DVD to be of invaluable help. In conclusion, for live worship, this keyboard has few if no rivals - stunning sounds, an uncluttered display and the ability to store and bring up favorite voices seamlessly. Reviews will not do justice, so, do you yourself a favor.. if you're really interested, check it out at a guitar center or a local music store.

it makes you wonna play and improvise
amazing sounds..pianos rhodes organs pads and drum-set sounds...for crazy performing lead synth sounds the korg is more flexible but motif is for sure the best mother keyboard you can buy..for sure a music turn-on!!!! I`m having difficulties with the owner`s manual,it`s not user friendly but I`m determined to learn how to use this great power tool I feel lucky I have. And of course as all the owners say....toooo heavy man..it`s a mission every time I have to perform somewhere.. An item`s collector this es8 dudes and dudesses!!!!

The beast
I got this board the week before chirstmas. Its amazing. things i dont like it is the waight and the biggness of it so its a mission to move it around. But my hard case with wheels is coming. also its not the easist of keyboards to work out how to use. but the sounds make up for it and it look great on stage. The piano sounds r ok but great for a keyboard (but who in there rightmind buys a keyboard for hte piano sounds if u want good piano sounds buy a piano keyboards will ever beable to do wat a piano can) the ep sounds are real loveable the snyth sounds r real nice. and the guitar sounds r realy realy good but i still dont c the point of realy good guitar sounds on a keyboard i say just get a guitarist. the drum sounds sound like a drum set. one thing that amazed me with this keyboard is that u can get pug in boards to add to your polyphony u can have up to like 200 or something like that and like more that u can through a stick at. But i must say i have got it to cut out but that was only cause i layered like 4 sounds and doing some fancy piano thing. i give it a 9 out of 10. but i say its only as good as the person driving it.

ES8 Unbeliveable Keyboard for the price
For total music production and a tsunami of sounds and features this keyboard cannot be beat! Any keyboard that offers more will cost upwards of $12,000 Cons ( Learning curve ) could have been more intuitive the owners manual is difficult to deciper but for my money it's worth the hassle. It's also very Heavy weight wise. But hey for what it packs..beyond belief! ( Best pro ).. the keyboard itself feels exactly like a real weighted piano at any price It is something you must experince to belive. Does not feel chunky like the Roland. I rate it 9.5 out of 10

Motif ES8
This new multi-everything workstation is unprecendented in it quality and what it has to offer for the local contemporary church or youth, for home studio or practially any performance function. The Motif series from Yamaha blitz other similar (if it's possible) keyboards in it's outstanding performance. Through sequencing, real-time control, feel and access to it's very capable features. This is one very serious decision to make if you want to increase the standard of your music and creativity!
