great keyboard if you can find it
I love my s80. I've used it in worship for almost two years and I'm always finding new things it can add to the service. It's fun to play and the sounds are great. I just wanted to clarify a few things. The s80 doesn't have an on board sequencer. It comes with a lite version of sequencer software. If you really want to do anything with midi you will need the XG plug in board--or you won't hear the sounds you're expecting. The manual is challenging, but Yamaha's made addendums called "Behind the Manual" which are easy to read and very helpful. (On the Yamaha website) Mine's been dropped and still works. If you can find one, I'd recommend it for leading worship. Great bang for your buck. If you want to do a lot of sequencing I'd get the s90 (more seamless with midi) or the motif--it has an on board sequencer.

S80
I use the S80 and I like it. However the manual gives me a head ack and nothing works right after I read the manual and try to preform the task like spliting the key board, you know bass on the left hand and another insturment on the top with volume control for each split Doe anyone have a video on how to work this machine. Please advise

Great sounds, nice piano feel
The S80 has a great sound set, and with a little experimentation, new sounds can be created and existing ones tweaked. I modified some EQ settings, and various effects for the piano voices, and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Very nice Rhodes (60's/70's) keyboard sounds, and some nice piano/synth pad mixes. I found it easy to use, and within the first hour of owning it, setup all the voices I needed for worship services and saved them to a SmartMedia card for ordered access. These are getting hard to find, but if you can find one, I highly recommend. I think it will be perfect for worship leading.

S80 great thus far - manual=greek
I love this keyboard thus far. However, not being exceptionally well versed in MIDI and synths basic operations, I'm finding the manual NOT HELPFUL as the language uses what I call 'engineerese.' I've joined a couple of lists, but often they talk in the same language. Would love to have something like a tutorial that novices could understand and thereby access all of the great features this synth has to offer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. DM
