Revelation
This book came as a revelation to me 3½ years ago. I had for some time been asking God what my contribution to world evangelism could possibly be since I see my gifting within the church leading worship - I'm not a 'full on' pub evangelist, at all! But I longed to please the heart of God in that way, too.
Then I read an extract from 'Worship Evangelism', got the book and was sold!

Since then we have laboured to change our public worship from being sort of exclusive ('turbo charismatic' ;-)) into being inclusive and welcoming, "accessible to all in an atmosphere of hope and joy" (p.29) We WORSHIP God! - and not-yet-Christians LOVE it! They love the music and they experience God, and many of them commit their lives to Jesus! We are now about to break the 200-barrier and for that size church it is a big thing to have over 60 converts in less than 2 years! - in Germany! My pastor-husband contributes a big chunk of this to our version of Worship Evangelism. Many new believers say that praise & worship was their entrance ticket to the church and becoming a disciple of Christ.
My heart is pumpin'!
We have never sensed the favour and pleasure of God stronger on our lives than since we adjusted everything we do in church life to include and intentionally welcome the lost among us - with a genuine desire to introduce them to the amazing Lord of the Universe who wants to love them to pieces.
So, Saturday I am hosting a worship seminar and my topic is - you guessed it: Worship Evangelism. I am so convinced of this. This is what my life is about: Abandoning my life in worship of my Saviour - private and totally public - and in doing so drawing multitudes of wayward children of God into His open arms.
I know it pleases the heart of God... - and that is what I was created to do.

I'm not entirely convinced of the argument, if I hold up a picture of my wife to you, you may appreciate her, but you may not fall in love with her like I do.

Worship does have the ability to show believers who God is, but to set out with the intention of using it in that way is misguided. Worship is always for the Father first, if some come in and catch His glory during that then that's an additional payback - it should never however be our objective.

We have seen some come to Christ through experiencing worship, but we are in danger of thinking that because that can happen that’s why we do it.

Worship has the possibilty to pastor, disciple, teach and build family, all great outcomes, but does that mean the next book in the series is Worship Teaching or Worship Pastoring?

Worship is just part of what the non-churched walk into, they walk into our community, our faith, our service and our love, the reason the Church exists is for the sake of the lost, the reason we worship is for the love of the Father.

Negative toned
The book is ok, if you want a repeat of the data you see at Barna.org but overall she comes from a much more negative tone than a positive "this is what we can do"...Most leaders know the church is ineffective in the United States, drubbing readers with that fact I think shows a lack of positive influence. This book would have been much better had it included some real visionary type topics and data such as where is God leading etc...

Requires more information
I have been searching for information on this subject for sometime now and was quite exited to see that this subject is addressed here. I truely believe that when unbelievers see us worship, we evangelise the heart of the Father to them. Jesus says "if he be lifted up from the earth, He will draw all men unto Him". As we worship, lift up the Name of Jesus, He will bring in the lost.

Please urgently send more information on this subject.

Love in Christ,
