Worship Focus
Dear John & Scott; We are all on the same team; the one that wins in the end. We've read the back of the book, remember? I think that after years of serving in music and worship ministry, we may possibly put alot of pressure on ourselves and each other when we are faced with an opportunity to just worship, praise God. John, you were probably ministered to in a different way than someone who doesn't have the responsibility of leading the way week after week, and Scott, you and I can stand back and look for stock answers when there really aren't any. The Holy Spirit will minister to each of us as He sees fit. Scott, I agree that He doesn't minister to us in cookie-cutter fashion. John, I think maybe you were just blessed with an opportunity to just rest in Him, and possibly by looking for something bigger, missed it. Blessings to both of you and your ministries. I can tell you are both very conscientious and strive for spirit-filled worship. In His Service (too), KEubanks

RE: What was your Focus?
Dear Scott,That's a good question. I remember my intent and aspirations were to worship; in fact, it was what my heart and soul needed most. On one hand I did worship, realizing its my responsibility. On the other hand, worshiping was a struggle for me; I had a difficult time maintaining my focus on God. Regarding your comments about cookie cutter spirituality, I am sorry you felt needlessly constrained by my suggestion that worship ministry requires hard work, direction from God and an infusion God's grace. For me, successful worship ministry is not about style, music, form, aesthetics... it is about clearly revealing Christ and pointing the congregation to respond to His greatness and love. Maybe Im not a very skilled worship leader and that is the reason I write articles that seem elementary. I know your time is valuable and appreciate your reading my article and commenting on it. In fact, I wish more people did comment. Sorry it did not have the reward of inspiration you were looking for. Blessings to you and your ministry; my the Lord bless it 30, 60 and 100 times. Your brother, John

What was your focus?
The article title you submited caught my interest, however, the body left me wondering where your heart was. Was the intent of your article to demonstrate, and posibly restructure, in your opinion, HOW the person leading worship should have conducted himself, or, was the intent that your own heart was not prepared to enter into worship? My honest opinion after reading your work was the impression that you were offering a cookie cutter mentality as-to how the Holy Spirit flows through each of us. Does the Holy Spirit, God, or Christ work in each of our lives and touch us ALL the exact same way? No, not so much. Each member of the body has their place, level of growth, and set of abilities. We are all much like snow flakes, unique and different. ALL offering our sacrafices to the source of our very creation and daily breath. The one true creator and sustainer of all things, Jesus Christ. You can respond if you wish. Clarity would be appreciated. Thanks and blessings Scott C

Beautifully Put
I agree completely with your article. We must pray for the Lord to anoint each Praise and Worship service. I believe it is a part of our resonsiblity as Worship leaders to pray for the anointing to fall on the Praise Team and congregation as we enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. It's all about Jesus!

Awesome article
We tend to neglect anointing sometimes and rely on our own wisdom, achievements, and strengths. Or sometimes, our traditions. I know, I must confess, I do. Great article!!!! Zechariah 4:6 So he answered and said to me: "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the Lord of hosts.

Triad Chord How True!
Thank you Brother for your article. Being in the Music Ministry for years, I'm sad to say I've had numerous experiences you described in this article. I myself am sick of pride & preformance! If God is not being Glorfied, then guess who is! When Christ is not the center of ones life,it is very obvious. The most beautiful song or words without God's Anointing becomes a "lip service". God help those who try to minister without The Holy Spirit's Anointing. The Scripture says we as Ministers will be held MORE accountable! God's placed me on a journey to win the lost, heal the sick, mend the broken hearted & set the captives free. But,I can do nothing on my own, but all things through Christ whom stregenthens me! Therefore, I desire the presence of the Holy Spirit to reign in every area of my life, that through me, Jesus may draw His people into the Holy of Holies. I long to see God's people bow & worship God Almighty, for it's in His presence where healing occurs! But how can this happen if I myself don't have daily "communion" with my Lord! To have God's Anointing I must DAILY spend time in His Presence, studying my Bible, spending time in Praise & Worship, falling on my face crying out to the Lord in prayer, not only asking God for something, but, listening to what He's saying to me. Then & only then do I have a right to stand before others as a Minister. I do not take my calling as a Music Evanglist lightly, for I know someday soon I will stand before Christ answering for my own accountability! I must keep myself humble before the Lord. I cry--"Abba Father, less of me & more of YOU! May He find us Faithful!
