If you’ve ever had children you’ve been in a position to demand obedience, sometimes it is given willingly and sometimes grudgingly with what we call “an attitude”. I love the times when my children have willingly given of themselves or their time for something that wasn’t asked of them, they did it because they wanted to. It’s much the same way with our praise to God. He could demand it of us and then we could make the same choice as our children, to give it willingly or grudgingly with an attitude. The sweetness of praise becomes that it is our gift to Him, it’s given willingly because we just love Him so much we need an outlet to pour out our emotions to Him. Joyful and spontaneous praise is reflected from the heart into the eyes, and there’s nothing sweeter to our Father than that. Psalm 18:3 “I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.” |
