Even though getting to establish a quiet time can be hard it is necessary. It requires that we focus on the big picture. We need God to talk to us! He so longs to speak to us. We need to make Him our number one priority. In order for us to be successful in all that we do, God must be first. There are passages in scripture that speak of Jesus going to spend time with the Father. Mark 1:35 says, "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." In the 5th chapter of Luke verse 16 the Bible says, "But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed," If Jesus saw the importance of spending time with his Father, how much more do we need to fight for that necessary time?

1. Make an appointment with God.

2. Tell your loved ones that this is the time you are spending with the Lord

3. Help your children understand that you are going to spend time with God. I remember one mother told her children that if they walked by mommy's bedroom and there was a scarf wrapped around the doorknob mommy was talking to Jesus and she was not to be disturbed.

We have to know that in order to fulfill our assignment we must get our marching orders and it only comes with an uninterrupted scheduled time with God.

As we enter the New Year, let us take hold to giving God our best and receive the best from Him for our lives.
