Seeking God's Face on My Face

Follow Me:

And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying,"Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen." (Revelation 7:11-12, NASB)

One of the things that true worship demands is humble submission. There is just no way around it. God wants all of us, even with our issues. He can handle our issues - we don't have to hesitate to bring them to God. Remember He is our Creator and He already knows the things we struggle with.

His Word tells us to constantly seek His face. We seek His face in prayer, and through the reading and study of His Word. But I want to offer another useful tool to seek the face of God, and that is seek Him on our face; literally bow low - as low as we can go with our faces to the floor. Talk about humble submission! We can physically go no lower before God than on our faces. But don't just stop at a bowed body; be certain your heart is bowed also. It isn't about merely the bodily position we're taking because worship is always a matter of the heart. As much fighting, and resisting that we sometimes do, all of that has to come to an end on our faces. On our faces we're flat, stretched out, not looking up or around, just looking down; only our hearts and our faith are looking up to God. The inhabitants of Heaven got on their faces to worship God; they humbled themselves and they were already in the eternal presence of God.

We have not yet entered eternity because we are yet on this side of time, but be challenged in your spirit that if God has you in "wait" mode, begin to wait on your face. If God's promises to you seem delayed get on your face. If your spiritual walk seems stagnant, get on your face and allow God to minister to your spirit. Talk to Him on your face; worship Him on your face. Somehow when we're on our faces before a high, holy God, He comes a little closer.
