If you've spent much time in the Colorado Rockies fishing the rivers of the high country, you can remember seeing huge boulders that literally sit amid the wildness of the rushing river. I loved to find the highest rock and sit upon it and observe creation at its finest. The water might send up a spray, but it couldn't hurt me because I was safe on a firm foundation. Isn't it apropos that the Psalmist uses the word "Rock" as one of the names of God? I know that it was a little stone that killed Goliath, but I prefer my stones to be massive and immovable and big enough to climb to safety on. Try meditating while resting on the Rock.
