Fear is a strange thing. To some it becomes the debilitating instrument that renders them helpless. For some it infuses them with a super human strength that they have never experienced before. David gives us a weird example to follow, to trust in God - while you are afraid and while you praise Him. Speaking from the viewpoint of one who becomes debilitated, that is very uncharacteristic and unnatural. It's not just the physical dangers that we encounter when we need to get past our fear and praise God for already being in control of the situation, it can be the mental anxiety that threatens to control our minds based on our everyday lives. We don't just zap God around our lives when we decide we need Him, He's there and He will never leave us or forsake us. Sounds like a good enough reason to praise Him.

Psalm 56:3-4 "When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid, what can mortal man do to me?"
