Hebrews 12:28-29 "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire."

Occasionally you will read in the newspaper or hear on the television about people dying in house fires, unable to be rescued because of the intense fire and heat. My heart breaks as I wonder how it would feel to be driven back by a force greater than yourself, knowing your loved ones were facing certain death without intervention. Jesus not only conquered the
impossible to redeem mankind, He is still the consuming fire of the Old Testament and He demands our reverence. We cannot approach God as if He were our equal, He is so far beyond anything we can humanly imagine that He requires us to worship Him as He has ordained - His rules on His terms.
