Shout for Joy?

Picture a Sunday service in your mind, imagine the Praise Team in place, the
worshipers in their rows. Now let’s scroll down to the second song where some are
clapping, and a few brave souls have even raised their hands in worship when suddenly
there is a tremendous shout coming from the back of the sanctuary. What do we do?
Do we stop the service or quietly ask the rowdy, rambunctious disturber of our worship to
please leave? This thing, shouting, has never been done before in our church. Yet, to our
astonished ears we begin to hear not just the sound of the shout, but the words: “Praise
to the God who rules forever” “Lord, You are worthy of all praise” “Thank you, Jesus, for
being the salvation of my life”. We can’t help but notice the tears of joy that stream
down his face as his hands are raised to the heavens. Interesting thought, isn’t it?
Psalm 33:3 “Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.”
